There are times we find ourselves in difficult circumstances, death of a loved one, financial problems, uncertainty, illness, injury, or spiritual crisis. I wrote this poem with these experiences in mind. These are times we get wrung-out and squeezed down to the essence of life. At this moment in our history, individuals in our society are going through these experiences simultaneously, in great numbers. Some will give in to desperation, others will move closer to the light. It is our chance to raise the collective consciousness surrounding the events of our challenging times to ease the path towards discovering Spirit, for those who follow.<\/p>\n

Suspended In Thin Air
\n<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

I’m suspended in thin air,
\nSo thin I can hardly breathe.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

I’m suspended in thin air,
\nquestioning the invisible force
\nof suspension.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

I’m suspended in thin air,
\npredicting a plunge,
\nhoping to float.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Have I forgotten how to fly?
\nOr have I never?
\nVagueness of past
\nresidence and events
\nperplexes.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

I’m suspended in thin air,
\nlooking for others,
\nin this strange predicament.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Alone, uncertain,
\ngasping for breathe,
\nterrified of wrong moves.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Watching those on the ground,
\nbarely visible, so tiny.
\nThey are busy, blind, daily routines,
\nso far away,
\nfrom this reality.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

I’m suspended in thin air,
\na place outside time,
\nbut trapped within
\nmovement of events.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

I’m suspended in thin air,
\nbecoming invisible,
\nfading from view,
\nofthose who move fast.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

FEAR<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

What can I see, suspended in thin air?
\nVision goes inward.
\nAll externals fade.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

I see fear looking at me,
\nI curiously watch
\nfamiliar stares.
\nI do not choose,
\nI am chosen.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Each day a new expression,
\na new reason,
\na new way,
\nFEAR becomes alive, animated, aggravated.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

FEAR overtakes me, possesses,
\nFear makes me shake,
\nafraid of tomorrow.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Impending doom, devastation, demolition,
\nwracking body, mind and soul,
\nout of control,
\nCHAOS takes over.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

And I forget…<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

FEAR is something else,
\nnot me.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Significance strengthens.
\nI become more transient, translucent, transparent.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

ANGER<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

FEAR mutates to anger!
\nRaging at those most loved, those most hated,
\nthose unknown, those un-alive,
\ndreaded\u00a0circumstances,
\npast and future!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Anger grabs with sharp talons,
\nripping flesh with delight,
\nblind with pain,
\nuntil there is barely a trace…<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

And I forget,<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

ANGER is something else,
\nnot me.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Significance strengthens.
\nI feel more transient, translucent, transparent.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

SADNESS & GRIEF<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

When FEAR turns to deep SADNESS & GRIEF,<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

tears come spontaneously
\nsadness slows movement
\ngrief takes over
\neveryone is alone
\nnone to help
\nstuck in here
\nloss all around
\nall is gone
\nrun and hide
\nnever to return<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

And, I forget,<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

SADNESS & GRIEF are something else,
\nnot me.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Significance strengthens.
\nI am more transient, translucent, transparent.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

What can be seen,
\nsuspended in thin air?<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

When vision goes inward,
\nand death feels real!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

When FEAR, ANGER, SADNESS & GRIEF,
\nare not me,<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Who AM I?
\nPops forth.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

And,<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

I AM<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

quiet… \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0peaceful… \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 still…<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

compassion… \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 empathy… \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0love…<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

truth… \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 beauty… \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 eternity…<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

I AM the one who observes…
\nthe one who is observed…<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

I AM…<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
