Fun: Born to be Wild Party!

Note Added: Go to the end of the comments for the final party bash on July 7th

– Thanks everyone!

Get your motor runnin’

Head out on the highway

Lookin’ for adventure

And whatever comes our way…

Born to be wiiiiiiiiiiiiiild!

Born To Be Wild and Easy Rider (Slipshotfilms)

Writers, get your nose out of your books, put the pen down, close down the windows on your computer with your WIP and recapture your spirit of adventure, rebellion and feel free and wild! We are getting out on the road and riding our choppers for this party.

“What’s wrong with freedom? That’s what it’s all about.” Watch this clip and get in the mood for the wildest party yet!

I’m celebrating my birthday (July 7th I turn 45 – ouch!), my blog’s birthday (1 year old) and the Fourth of July weekend (US birthday) during the weekend known for the best of summer fun! For my birthdays, I would LOVE more Google Friends. If you follow my blog, come a little closer so I can see you! And don’t hesitate to join in the comments.

If you are new to my parties (and to my site) be warned, unusual things can happen, and not everyone is part of *physical* reality. This all takes place in virtual space and there are fictional characters everywhere, they show up at my parties, help with the festivities and even comment on my posts. However, the fiction writers tend to be just as wild as their characters at my party, so you never know what will happen. We create a short story every party with wild twists and turns!

This party will be a big one. Visit often between Friday, July 2nd and Wednesday, July 7th (I’m taking a break next week from regular blog posts). Check out the craziness at my last wild party. Can you believe it has been about 7 months worth of parties so far? Seems like only yesterday when I threw my Once in a Blue Moon New Year’s Eve Party that started it all. But I am getting nostalgic, so I will just say, thanks, and “let’s get on the road…”

Now get on your chopper and have a great time!

Gettin’ Ready

The Jacket

Riding our choppers, it is all about looking good. Of course the first requirement is having a great leather jacket. Swazzle and Pogmorton (Sam’s (@FutureNostalgicpixies from the UCF) have made special Born to Be Wild jackets especially for this trip. Head on over to their place and pick one up, but watch out for the Wyrm, they haven’t caught it yet.

Tattoos

The Boys are making another special appearance at this party to help with the Tatoos. As members of the Russian Mafia, they know all about tatoos and are amazing artists with the needle. For this Born to Be Wild trip, we will all be branded with the Dragon tattoo. This will be a permanent reminder to live your spirit of adventure. Where do you want your tattoo?

Pick Your Route

It is time to choose the route for your ride. We will be split into three groups, or if you choose, be totally rebellious and find your own road anywhere in the world. Tour leaders are Xan Marcelle, Mr. Fluffy and Jezebel.

Easy Rider Tour

In the spirit of the theme, Xan Marcelle (aka @CrookedFang) – Carrie Clevenger’s interesting character- the cool bassist vampire who is literally coming alive more each day-will be your tour guide on the classic route taken by Wyatt (Peter Fonda), Billy (Dennis Hopper) and George (Jack Nicholson) in Easy Rider. I suggest you wear scarves around your neck if you are on this tour. And, the riding time in this group will only take place at night, for obvious reasons.

On this route you will travel from Los Angeles to New Orleans.

Mr. Fluffy's sidekick

On the Road Tour

For the Beat lit fans, Mr. Fluffy (Laura Eno’s (@LauraEno) mysterious muse – a skull head with glowing red eyes and powers to control your mind) will be your guide for the Jack Kerouac On the Road Tour. I recommend wearing sunglasses, and don’t look into Mr. Fluffy’s eyes.

This is the longest trip. You will take the route Jack followed in 1947-48 from New York to Los Angeles and back to New York. Check out the map for all the exciting stops along the way.

Route 66 – The Mother Road Tour

For some classic nostalgia take the tour on Route 666 (oops, I mean Route 66) with Jezebel (Laura Eno’s many tentacled creature who loves to creep in for parties) as your tour guide.

Have a wonderful time full of unexpected pleasures with Jezebel as you travel from Chicago to Los Angeles. And please, don’t take your cat on this tour.

Wild and Free

The rebellious lone wolves in the group are free to choose any route around the world. Let us know where you are going and tell us about your trip.

Diners

What is a party without food? Even though we are on the road, and different roads, we can enjoy every diner and roadside cafe on the route! Diner food for everyone!

Can you feel your sense of adventure rising up inside of you?

Join the party and tell us what’s going on where you are riding. Who’s with you, what are you doing, what did you see?

Did anything unusual happen? At my parties? Never. Ha!

  1. Hey Anne,

I’m gonna dump a bunch of these chips on your table. I had a snack in Vegas and well, I guess she was loaded. I’d bring your cake but I can’t bake worth a hoot, so here’s some black label. Booze and gambling? And they say I’m the good guy.

    Ha!

    Happy Birthday girlie. Many more.

    Xan

    1. WooHoo! Thanks Xan, that is a lot of chips, probably worth a fortune!

You have been such a fun guy to have on this tour, thanks so much for the sweet birthday wishes and for all your amazing help.

We will share a drink to celebrate!

  2. HAPPY BIRTHDAY my dear! 😀

Since the orange punch is spiced by pixies and who knows who/what else, I bring another orange beverage typical of Veneto: spritz. It’s made of prosecco, aperol (an Italian thing) and a slice of orange. Yummm.

ps. Promise it’s safe and no one is going to die after drinking it. In honor to you Anne. 🙂

    1. Oh how wonderful – that drink sounds so delicious! We can always depend on you to bring Italian yummies!

  3. Josie

Born to be wild, indeed – go you! Love the motorbikes, the jackets, the tattoos. I don’t know which route I’d choose though, none of them are familiar to me but I have heard of Route 66… though I’ve wanted to visit Canada for ages so my tour will take in that lovely country.

I have brought cake for everyone and most especially you 🙂 Enjoy! And happy 1-year blog birthday as well.

    1. Thanks Josie,

Canada would be a great idea. And, thanks for the cake, we needed more after the cake-eating contest.

  4. Cake! Karen didn’t make the cake did she? Are there tentacles in it? Pass the punch and I’ll raise a toast to the birthday girl. Happy birthday!!!

    1. Laurita

      I forgot the toast *ahem*

As you slide down the bannister of life, may all the splinters point the other way.

      Happy Birthday!

    2. Thanks Laurita! That toast gave me a great laugh!!

I would avoid the punch at this point, that is where all the tentacles are now…but the cake is great, don’t worry, I just made the cake FOR Karen, never know what kinda things she puts in cakes.

  5. Great punch! I needed it after that sweaty ride! Not much of that cake left though — Glad I brought this along just in case:

    http://technabob.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/steampunk_wedding_cake.jpg

Watch your teeth on it though!

Happy birthday Anne – great party! 🙂

    1. Whoa, that is AMAZING — everyone come back for more cake & a little dental work never hurt anyone (well, not much anyway)

  6. Somehow Jezebel has delivered us all safely back in time to celebrate your birthday! Whew…what a ride! I took pictures but they all came out with waving tentacles blocking the views.

Sorry, but Jezebel is swimming in the punchbowl – I’m afraid you’ll have to make another batch.

Oh, and don’t open any gift that Mr. Fluffy might give you – not unless you want to lose the next three days of memory anyway.

    1. Dad-blame it Jezebel, I was just fixin’ to get another cup of punch!
Laura, can you not do something about this? 😉

    2. Oh no, I forgot how much Jezebel likes to swim in the punch bowl! Oh well, she looks good in florescent orange!

  7. Woot! Punch in my favorite color, cake, and sunshine – what more could I ask? You really know how to throw a party Anne! Now if only you knew how to keep the riff-raff away. 😉
HAPPY BIRTHDAY LOVELY! And happy chocolate day everyone!

    1. Hi Deanna,

Take it easy on the punch, you are beginning to glow! Thanks for the birthday wishes and reminding me that it is chocolate day!

  8. Happy Birthday Anne! I brought otter pops! I went “riding” with the family out to the Virginia Mountains where we ate at IHOPs galore and listened to Terry Pratchett in the car. I could make up something more exotic, but honestly I had so much fun this weekend.

Now point me at the pool. I’ve had a little too much of this glowy-fiery thing that keeps hovering over me and hurts my skin…What do you mean it’s called “the sun?”

    1. Hi Monica,

      Thanks so much!

I thought you were making up the ‘otter pops’ thing, but I looked it up and saw that they do exist:

      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Otter_Pops

Those look yummy, thanks for bringing them for everyone – what a wonderful weekend you must have had!

  9. I like cake, what can I say? And it wasn’t me who spiked the punch. I’m high on life.
    [I think it was Sam]

Oh and the present over there by the grill? The really big blue one that’s fizzing and has air holes in the top?

    *looks proud*

    That one’s from me.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY YOU BEAUTIFUL THING YOU!!
    Big big hugs.
    Karen :0)

    1. I’m glad you liked the cake. You gave me the idea to make sure the party ended with a bang – that would be the punch.

Wow! Thanks for the…ah…nice…present. It is very big, and I think I’d better call for reinforcements before I open it. Very creative, though.

Thanks for the great birthday wishes!

  10. It’s the last day of the big blow-out party on the road. Thanks to everyone for a wonderful birthday ride.

Let’s all meet up and have one last big party. I am serving cake (request of Karen S. @karenfrommentor) and lots of ice cream in every flavor. A special birthday punch (the liquid kind) will be served – it is florescent orange with lots of ice. Look closely, there are things embedded in the ice – can you tell what they are?

We are having the party around the pool, with nice cold water for everyone to swim – especially the East Coast sufferers of the heat!

Thanks again all my good friends for making my birthday extra special this year!

    1. Swazzle and Pogmorton just want everyone to know they had nothing whatever to do with the punch; Botchett on the other hand, has gone very quiet and says something needs adjusting on the trike.

We’ve had a blast, though I dunno what was going on with Mr Fluffy and the Pixies as we seem to have been hopping all over the place for the last couple of days.

Happy Birthday, Anne! That’s a sumptuous cake, judging by the way Mr Fluffy’s sidekick is drooling. Swazzle and Pogmorton have brought you a bottle of Elderflower champagne to toast your birthday. 😀

      1. Oh yum, elderflower champagne! I will add it to the next batch of punch!

Thanks for all your help on the ride, and thank you to Swazzle, Pogmorton & Botchett!

Looks like I will need to bring out more cake – Mr. Fluffy’s sidekick ate a lot!

  11. If I know Mr. Fluffy, he has those pixies under his mind control by now…no telling what they’re doing to the riders.

By the way, Anne…could you wire some money to the little Arizona jail we’re uh,…resting in?

    1. Eeek, sending money right now. I’m thinking you must be in some big trouble considering the amount of money I had to send and the additional bribes I had to offer.

      1. Oh, yeah…I forgot to mention the number of people you’d have to bribe. I was pretty messy, but we’re back on the road again. Thanks! I’ll give you one of my special massages when we get back home. Just remember your allergy meds this time.

  12. How is the Mr. Fluffy tour going? Are the pixies still okay? How about Mr. Fluffy’s sidekick, did anyone find him?

I am very pleased to see the tours are going very well. The best part of a virtual party/bike tour is that we don’t have to worry about bad weather.

I have especially enjoyed the parties at the diners each night – celebrating the end of the day for two tours and the beginning of the ride time for Xan’s group. You guys really know how to liven up a diner.

I see each group has accumulated several new riders each time you party at the diners. Wow, the groups are getting really big now.

Three days left on the tour – let’s party on and enjoy the ride!

  13. The stars at night, are big n’ bright. Deep in the heart of Texas. Everybody is cool enough to let a sleeping vamp lie. I’m hoping they’ll wake me up at sunset. I got a habit of sleeping in…

I’ll take your tattoo Anne. I’m sure you’ll pick a nice spot for me. I got a leather jacket, and I’m riding easy on my Kawasaki Ninja. Yes, I’m aware it’s a crotch-rocket. But damn what a rocket. Next time we’ll cruise the classics.

Party on. Ride For Life. Or something like that. 😉

    Xan

    1. Hi Xan, I am very happy to see you are happy with the tour, hehe, we want to keep you smiling. Thanks to all on his tour for accommodating his Xan’s sleep schedule. It is definitely in your best interest.

      Nice bike!

  14. Anne, this has been a purrfect blast for me and my gang of easyriders. They’ve been doing the conga with me at the diners and we zip right by those funny cars with the red and blue lights…wild, dude.

    1. Jezebel, so wonderful to see you report. Making good use of the diners, I see? And, don’t worry about those funny looking cars when you have super-powered bikes.

  15. My bike is tuned and rumbling. Following Xan on the night tour. Aren’t the stars great this time of year?

    1. Hi ya David, nice to see you on the ride! The stars are bright, especially out of the city on the open road

  16. Well hell, good to see we have a sweet crew. I stole Marisa anyway, gotta say she looks good in leather. I don’t eat friends. Unless they want me too.

  17. Hey Anne, Happy Birth’day/week/month to you and your excellent blog! It has been wonderful to see how far and how quickly you have progressed. I am proud to have met you on this amazing online journey of yours!

Sorry I missed the party. I was all cooped up and feeling rather sorry and lonely yesterday, stuck travelling alone. Would have loved some company but my internet gave up on me.

Great to see you all had a great time!

~ Meanwhile ~ *sneaks off and grabs Johnny in a sleeper headlock. “I don’t care about your rum or your hats, gimme back my poetry book, you mimbleheaded oaf!” . Grabs poetry book and then goes to puncture the tyres of his bike. Hmmph.*

    1. Hi Nishi,

Too bad your internet connection is not holding up with the traveling. I’m glad you were able to stop in for awhile and feel the fun of traveling with friends. You haven’t missed the party, it will be going on until next Wed.

Ooo, watch out Johnny, you better run!

  18. No cat fight guys, I’m a zombie and I only like cats because they’re yummy, heh.

Mari-girl, please share Johnny. I mean, an arm would do. (for now)

Laura, I’m sorry to say I’m staying the heck away of Jezebel’s route, and Mr. Fluffy seems… uh.

So, I’m going with Swazzle and Pogmorton. Hmm, now that I’m dead I might check out Xan’s route as well. I bet my blood tastes really bad, heh.

Happy birthday and happy blog birthday my dear! *cheers*

Anyone wants some red-blood wine? I promise it’s not like my coffee (not). heh 😛

    1. Thanks Mari,

Have a good ride, just don’t stay too long (until you get hungry). And, I will take a pass on the wine.

      1. I’m not hungry for flesh! (yet) I’m hungry for Johnny!!!

How could Mari-girl do this to me? Just because it was her b-day a few days ago? Not fair! Oh, wait, you’re not doing the same, are you Anne? I’m not sure I can stand another betrayal so soon. (or ever!) O_O

About the wine, I kind of understand that you won’t want it, but it tastes good, I gotta say, heh. 😛

        1. Me? *looks around* no, no betrayal here, *takes off on bike with disguised man on the back*

  19. Uh, Anne? I think we’re lost… Jezebel had us stop at a biker bar last night after dinner at a diner and she, uh, upset a couple of guys playing pool when she entwined around their balls – their billiard balls – so we had to ride at night for awhile and take back roads.

Anyway, no one around here knows what Route 66 is. Well, maybe they do, but they won’t answer their doors. Are we in a ghost town maybe?

Any help you might give with your teleportation device would be welcome.

    1. Oh no, it looks like you took a wrong turn in Albuquerque and ended up in Colorado. Just head south again and you will get back on the Mother Road in a few hours.

  20. Sounds like a fun party! I’m in!!!

I found a great steampunk bike here: http://www.instablogsimages.com/images/2009/09/22/1477bikee1_pelv3_54.jpg

This just might be the steampunk tattoo I’ll get: http://fc01.deviantart.com/fs15/f/2007/023/7/7/Like_Clockwork_by_clockworkwasp.jpg

And I’m pretty sure this headgear is regulation right?? http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s55/rurouni_jedi/Miscellaneous/steamheat-1.jpg

I’ve always wanted to see New Orleans, so I do believe I’ll head that-a-way, but as I’m coming from Canada, I’ll be meeting up on route 🙂

    1. Hi Jemi,

Those pictures are soooooo cool! I knew you would have just the right addition to the steampunk reference!

I can just see you in that hat and goggles with your cane. We will definitely see you coming on that bike!

    2. Jemi, that steampunk bike is AWESOME! And very much like Botchett’s, except his is the trike version. 😀

      1. Sam – I agree – they are so very, very cool! Some people are so creative and talented! 🙂

  21. Looks like a fun party. I definitely choose Rt. 66. What, no cat? My cat likes to ride.

    1. Uh, oh…Jezebel says your cat is MORE than welcome. Personally, I’d keep a close eye on the cat – and Jezebel. She has long tentacles…

    2. Hi Jill,

Please be careful with the cat – Jezebel has been know to do strange things with them.

  22. Oooh, I can’t decide which route to take either. They all sound like so much fun! I think I’ll copy you Anne and use those special teleportation abilities to pop in on them all.

AND, I’m gearing up for a road trip to Tybee Island, GA soon, so we’ll need an east coast route, 95 down towards FL with detours to all the beaches along the way. And I’d like the sweet Mr. Crooked Fang to be my guide, please. 🙂

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANNE! You throw the best parties in the world!

    1. No wait! That should be route 1, (is that right Laura?), not 95 – 95 is an interstate. Must stay OFF the interstate!

    2. What fun, a road trip and stopping at every beach. I don’t know what that would be like, no beaches anywhere in site around here – lakes don’t count.

We expect to hear all about it and see pictures!

  23. I can’t decide on which route to join, so I think I will use my special teleportation abilities to check in on each tour. Also gives me a chance to try more diners.

I can feel the *characters* beginning to raise the tension as they assert themselves with us again. Do we always have to give them their way?

Has anyone seen Mr. Fluffy’s sidekick?

    1. Anne, you’re more than welcome to ride along with us for a while, Botchett would love to meet you.

Happy Fourth for tomorrow! It would have been my Grandmother’s birthday tomorrow too, so 4th July is always especially poignant for me.

      1. Aw, Happy Birthday to Grandma! I would like to have a grandma around again, too.

  24. Sign me up for the Easy Rider tour. I’ve never read On The Road, and I’d rather end up in NOLA than in LA.

    I’ll bring the hootch.

    1. Yay! So you are on for the Mardi Gras route, and of course you can pass the hootch around whenever you want!

  25. Brilliant, Anne, what a fantastic idea for a party – you do us proud every time; how’d you know I always fancied crossing the US on a Harley? Oh, of course, you’ve been talking to Swazzle and Pogmorton again, haven’t you?

The jackets are ace, BTW, now I understand why all the cows round these parts are looking a bit odd. Swazzle reckons their skins will grow back…in time.

I guess we’ll have to join the On The Road tour group (unless the wish to be Wild and Free gets the better of the Pixies) – so, there’ll be me, Swazzle, and Pogmorton all on Botchett’s steam powered chopper trike. The Lads said they want to introduce Botchett to Mr Fluffy and his sidekick, I dread to think what they’re planning. I’m bringing Aveena along for the ride too, she just loves tattoos so she’s going to have the dragon, and…oops, nearly let slip a spoiler there!

Someone lemme know which diner we’re stopping at tonight?

    1. OH my, what kind of cool bike is that? I have all kinds of images in my mind – kinda steampunked. It is nice to have Aveena too, well, maybe, what is she up to?

Eeek, those poor cows, we better offer a vinyl option. Maybe we should not ask pixies to make the coats next time.

      1. Yup! Botchett’s trike is all steampunked, though he’s not saying a word about the power source. O.o

I have no clue what Aveena’s up to, other than enjoying the ride…she’ll travel miles for a good tattoo.

Swazzle assures me the cows will be just fine, and that you said you wanted the best leather he could find for the jackets. 😉

    2. Mr Fluffy is really looking forward to having private discussions with Sam’s group…he wouldn’t tell me why.

Jezebel wants to know if she’ll get to meet the Wyrm – it might be an ancestor of hers…don’t ask, it’s better that way.

      1. And to think, I was only slightly worried about the Pixies wanting to chat to Mr Fluffy…now I’m really worried.

You can tell Jezebel I’ll have a word with Botchett and see if he can arrange a meeting.

      2. Oooo, Jezebel may have some interesting family history here.

Sam’s group, don’t do it, turn around quickly and get on the road!

        1. *Jumps on bike and roars away into the sunset*

  26. You bet that I’m riding on back of Johnny’s bike! And Xan will be there, too? Even better!

And you know which Boy I want to do my Dragon tattoo. 🙂

    I love diners!

What a great weekend we will all have, can’t wait…

    1. Okay now, you can’t have all the guys. Laszlo would be glad to give you your tattoo, and you can also ride with him.

We will let Zombi-Mari ride with Xan, I think that is a good match at this point.

  27. Ooh, I’m having a hard time choosing between those routes! I think I’d better go along with Jezebel as chaperone so she doesn’t, er…bother any of the other riders along Route 666.

I love the picture of Mr Fluffy’s sidekick! He’s adorable!

I’ve picked the spot for my dragon tattoo…do I have to tell you where I placed it?

Fabulous design skills of Swazzle and Pogmorton on the jacket.

Great idea to meet up at night at the diners…great way to accomodate Xan and his nightriders!

I hope that Zombie-Mari remembers to bring enough glue to re-attach her pieces as they get blown off in the wind. Has anyone told her yet that Mari-girl is riding on the back of Johnny’s bike? I smell a cat-fight coming on!

    1. Yes, you have to tell where your tatto is going, we are all going to show them off to each other.

Oh no, more fights with the Mari-girls? Johnny is coming too? I think I will have to ride on his bike with him so the girls don’t fight.

I’m willing to make any sacrifice for the tour, even if it means riding with Johnny Depp – mwahahaha
